Why do my nails grow faster in the tropics?

I’ve noticed that my nails grow considerably faster in warm tropical places, such as the Caribbean. Every time I go on vacay there, my nails get stronger and longer in a super short amount of time. When I get back home to the states, they start breaking again and growing slowly. Can anyone answer this mystery for me?

@ericafoxx, I have heard something about that before actually, and I think it may have something to do with the salt air combined with the heat that encourages faster nail growth.

On the other hand, it could also be that when you’re on vacation, you’re doing a lot less with your hands (dishes, cleaning, chores, etc…), so your manicure stays pretty much intact.

I really think it has something to do with the salt air combined with the humidity…sort of like how plants grow faster in warmer places. I tried to do a little bit of research but didn’t find anything concrete.
